Merger Update

Dear Kol Dorot Family:

As we move forward in process of creating Kol Dorot, one of the most important tasks of the Integration Team has been to determine the clergy and staff who will lead us into our future.

We are therefore thrilled to announce that Rabbi Noah Fabricant and Rabbi David Widzer together will lead our Kol Dorot community for the 2019-2020 year. Both rabbis have been fully engaged in the integration process from the outset, and their leadership and insight has been invaluable in bringing us to our current position. They have already been collaborating in planning for our future and are looking forward to working together for a successful first year of our new community.

Beyond the 2019-2020 year, the Integration Team faced a difficult decision. Both rabbis are beloved, respected, integral parts of our community, but fiscal responsibility requires that we retain only one rabbi for our long-term future. After confidential considerations, the Integration Team decided that at the end of June 2020, Rabbi Fabricant will remain as the sole rabbi leading Kol Dorot and Rabbi Widzer will depart to pursue the next chapter of his rabbinate.

We realize that this decision will evoke a full range of emotions, from excitement for the future to sadness and loss. All of these are the human part of our transition into Kol Dorot. We look forward to an entire year being led by both of our rabbis together, shaping our community in its expressions of Jewish living and learning. We will make sure that the community has the opportunity to thank and say goodbye to Rabbi Widzer before his departure, even as we look forward to continued success and great promise with Rabbi Fabricant.

In other staffing news, we are excited to announce that Cantor Sarah Silverberg will be our cantor for the 2019-20 year. Sarah has been the Cantor at Temple Beth Or for the past five years, and we look forward to her continuing to enrich our worship and community with her music. We are very happy to share that Anat Katzir will become our Educator, having served wonderfully in that capacity for Temple Beth El and Temple Beth Or this year. Barbara Weinberg, who has led the Temple Beth El Nursery School, will become the Director of the Kol Dorot Early Learning Center. And Jim Rensink has agreed to be our Music Director at Kol Dorot. Jim has been a fixture at Temple Beth El for the past 30 years, and we’re thrilled that he’s bringing his talents, humor, and music to our community.

We continue to work on the office and administrative positions on our Kol Dorot Team. We look forward to making additional staffing announcements in the future, along with other updates and new developments. As always, we invite you to contact us if you have any questions.

Regards,
